Gallego Votes for the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-07) today released the following statement applauding the House Passage of S. 3522 the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022.
Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-07) released the following statement:
“Two months into the Russian invasion, Ukraine continues to stand strong against Putin’s unfathomable aggression and horrific crimes. But this war is far from over, and to ensure Ukraine remains a sovereign democracy, the United States cannot let up on providing the arms, intelligence, and aid Ukraine requires to defend its homeland. That is why I voted to pass the Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act to cut through the red tape and quickly get Ukraine what it needs to keep up the pressure against Russia.”
Rep. Gallego has been a leader in the House on supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s invasion. In December of last year, Rep. Gallego led the first congressional delegation to Ukraine amid heightened tensions.
As co-chair of the House Baltic Caucus, Rep. Gallego successfully secured $180 million for the first-ever spending authorization for the Baltic Security Initiative, which bolsters the defense of the Baltic nations of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia – three crucial NATO allies that are on the frontlines of Russian aggression and belligerence.
Building on the success of the Baltic Security Initiative, Rep. Gallego recently introduced the Baltic Defense and Deterrence Act to codify the Baltic Security Initiative amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and heightened tensions in Europe.
