Art Competition
Congressman Ruben Gallego invites all high school students in AZ-03 to be part of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition!
Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District.
This year the District 3 competition is held via a digital submission platform. Students can continue to create their works of art in their preferred medium. To submit their artwork for review, students must take a clear, well-lit photo of their work.
Submission Deadline: Sunday April 21st, at 11:59 p.m. Arizona Time.
Media Accepted: All artwork must be original and two-dimensional, no larger than 26” x 26” x 4”.
Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows:

drawings be fixed).
- Collages: must be two dimensional.
- Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints.

Awards: A panel of artists and community members will judge the artwork submitted. The artwork of the first-place winner of our district's competition will be displayed for a full year in a U.S. Capitol exhibit that includes artwork from other contest winners nationwide. Depending on public health conditions this summer, the winner will also receive a free flight for them and a guardian to Washington, D.C. to attend a reception at the Capitol with Rep. Gallego. Second and third place winners will be displayed for a year in the Congressman's Phoenix Office.
Submission Instructions: To submit their artwork for review, students must take a well-lit, high-resolution photo of their work. Only one full photo of the art is needed, but students may submit up to two additional ‘detail’ photos to highlight specific aspects of the piece.
