2018 Congressional Art Competition

Are you a high school student interested in participating in the Congressional Art Competition (CAC)?

First Things First: Let your art teacher know that you are interested in participating in the CAC. Once your teacher is aware of your participation, start working on your submission.

Artwork must be 2-dimensional and no larger than 26”x26”x4”, including the frame.  Artwork must not weigh more than 15 pounds and all work must be ready to hang on the wall—no exceptions.

  • Best in Show - The winning ‘Best in Show’ piece will hang in the U.S. Capitol for a year and the artist will have the opportunity to travel to D.C. for the winner’s reception.
  • Best in Show Runner-Up:  The ‘Best in Show Runner-Up’ will be displayed in Congressman Ruben Gallego’s District Office for the remainder of the year.

Teachers and students must notify our office of student participation as soon as possible. All artwork must be ready for pick up by Friday, April 18th. Submissions must include a completed Student Release Form and a label on the back of the art piece with contact information for both the school and student. Students and art teachers should review the 2018 Rules for Students and Teachers and 2018 Art Submission Checklist.

Reception and Awards

Participants and schools will receive an invitation to the Reception and Award Ceremony where all art submissions will be displayed in a gallery. The reception will take place in mid-May.
