Gallego Announces Over $2.6 Million in Funding for Sky Harbor
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-07) proudly announced over $2.6 million in new federal grant money for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The grant allocates $2,602,800 from the Federal Aviation Administration to go towards expanding the Terminal 4, South Concourse 1 apron to 45,000 square yards. The expansion will support increased use of commercial service aviation facilities.
“The Biden Administration continues to deliver for Arizonans,” said. Rep. Ruben Gallego. “As the population and economy of our region grows, it is imperative we have a world class airport that can meet demand. I am elated to see these infrastructure projects takeoff in The Valley, and I won’t stop working to deliver on the funding and jobs Arizona deserves.”
Last year, the House of Representatives passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which includes a grand total of $15 billion in formula funding to help redevelop airports across the country. Current projections show Sky Harbor could receive $216 million of this funding over 5 years, averaging about $43 million per year.
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which lies entirely within Arizona’s 7th District, is the 13th busiest airport in the United States, providing service to 22 million passengers annually.
