Rep. Ruben Gallego Celebrates Black History Month
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Ruben Gallego released the following statement in honor of Black History Month:
"This month we celebrated and paid tribute to the many accomplishments and contributions that African Americans have made to our great nation during every chapter of American history.
"As leaders, entrepreneurs, scientists, teachers, clergy members, artists, athletes, members of our armed services, and everything in between, African Americans have shaped our identity as a nation. They have broken barriers and blazed trails, and their stories continue to inspire each new generation.
"We also should take the time to recognize the areas where there is still much work to be done. I'm fighting in Congress to make sure all Americans can cast a vote and participate in our democracy, to make sure all children have access to quality education, and to make sure no family has to choose between seeing a doctor or putting a meal on the table.
"I am proud to represent a diverse community in Phoenix, and I am committed to working closely with my colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus to advance equality, social justice, and opportunity for all Americans."
