House Baltic Caucus Statement on the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-07) and Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02), co-chairs of the House Baltic Caucus, released the following statement in response to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Putin’s ruthless and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine is an attack on democracy and a direct threat to European peace and security. As America and its allies and partners continue to apply sanctions on Russia, its economy, and its leaders, we support President Biden’s decision to deploy additional troops and further strengthen NATO presence in the Baltics to ensure the safety and security of our NATO allies.

“Earlier today, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland triggered NATO consultations under Article 4 of the Alliance’s Washington Treaty. Our commitment to NATO and Article 5 is ironclad, and the United States Congress will continue to stand with our allies as we seek to prevent escalation and deter further Russian aggression.”
