Gallego Hosts Student Loan Debt Forgiveness Roundtable at Phoenix College
PHOENIX, AZ – Today, Rep. Ruben Gallego, joined students, educators, and advocates at Phoenix College for a roundtable discussion on President Biden’s recently announced student loan forgiveness plan.
“President Biden made the right decision when he announced his plan to cancel student debt for millions of qualified borrowers,” said Rep. Gallego. “I was incredibly excited when the plan was first announced, and I’m just as excited today to meet with the folks that this relief will directly impact. Every Arizonan and every American should have the opportunity to receive a quality, affordable education, and I will keep fighting for long term solutions to the issue of higher education affordability.”
As part of the visit, Rep. Gallego toured Phoenix College’s student services, and spoke with leaders from Phoenix College and the Maricopa Community Colleges.
“Providing access to an affordable, high-quality education, is at the core of Maricopa’s mission,” said Steven Gonzales, Interim Chancellor of the Maricopa Community Colleges. “We appreciate and applaud Rep. Gallegos continued voice at the Capitol supporting affordable higher education. Through our passion and dedication, we witness first-hand how our innovative programs, world-class faculty, dedicated staff, and community play a key factor in helping our students achieve their personal and professional goals.”
Later this evening, Rep. Gallego will host a webinar on the Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, which provides student loan debt relief for millions of qualified public servants.
