Gallego on the 5th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act

Washington, DC – Today marks the 5th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. Congressman Ruben Gallego released the following statement:

"Thanks to the Affordable Care Act more than 16 million Americans have access to affordable and quality health insurance and our country's uninsured rate is at its lowest level ever recorded.

"In Arizona over 205,000 people selected or re-enrolled in health care through the marketplace; over 2 million Arizonans, including 769,000 women and 570,000 children, don't have to worry about lifetime coverage limits; and 1,486,000 people gained preventive service coverage with no cost-sharing.

"There is no doubt that the Affordable Care Act is working. While Republicans continue their never ending fight to get rid of Obamacare no matter the cost – voting 56 times to repeal the ACA and even shutting down the government - Democrats will continue fighting to increase access to affordable, quality health care for all Americans. The American people are living the benefits of the Affordable Care Act and we will continue working to ensure that these benefits are not taken away."
