Congressman Ruben Gallego Applauds the America’s College Promise Proposal
Washington, DC – Today President Obama announced the America's College Promise Proposal, which will make 2 years of community college free for responsible students. Rep. Gallego made the following statement in regards to the President's announcement:
"College affordability is one of the most important issues of our time - millions of families in our country can't afford to give their children access to a higher education, and young people are getting themselves into high amounts of debt to pay for their college tuition.
"The President's proposal will go a long way towards making college more affordable and accessible for young people and middle class families. I applaud the President's leadership and I look forward to working to pass reforms to help those who are carrying the heavy burden of student loan debt because of the cost of higher education in the United States."
