Taxes and Economic Impact Payments

Economic Impact Payments (EIP)

The CARES Act initially provided EIPs to American households of up to $1,200 per adult for individuals whose income was less than $99,000 (or $198,000 for joint filers) and $500 per child under 17 years old – or up to $3,400 for a family of four. The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 authorized additional payments of up to $600 per adult and up to $600 for each qualifying child. Please note that non-child dependents did not qualify for a payment through the first two rounds of EIPs.

If you did not receive one or both of the first two EIPs, but believe you were eligible, you can receive the payment by claiming the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 taxes.

The American Rescue Plan provides direct payments of $1,400 per person, including children and adult dependents, for individuals making up to $75,000 per year and joint filers making up to $150,000 per year. You can check the status of your payment here
